  • I Will Conquer the Taipei 101~!

    Hey Everyone,

I can't believe this myself either, but I am signed up to conquer the Taipei 101 this May 5th! That is exactly one week from today.  It's crazy! I know...and for those of you who are asking...no.. it will not be like a spiderman thingy climbing the outside walls. No no silly.  I will be climbing the stairs on the Inside of the building .  LOL ~~ silly silly I tell you.  I don't know how long it's going to take me to do the 91 flights of stairs...  but-- I have a head start compared to a lot of people, since I climb my five flights of stairs nearly daily--and more if I leave my apartment more than once a day-- since my apartment doesn't have an elevator-- but still that is NOTHING in comparison to the Taipei 101.

I found out about the 2007 International Climbathon through Joe, who found out through a friend in Taiwan.  Joe of course immediately said- Yes.. that he wanted to do it.. and I was like .. hmm.. since he's doing it-- I gotta do it too!!  Heheee... well.. hopefully I'll still be able to walk after May 5th.

So I am really glad I signed up for several reasons.  One, I've never been up to the top levels of 101.  I've only been up to 6th (?) floor --maybe? which ever floor is the highest level for the shopping mall.  Second, it's for
Charity.  100% of the donations will go to three different organizations with the majority going to Garden of Hope that is working to end domestic violence, sexual exploitation and child prostitution in Taiwan.  Third, it will be a challenge and it will be fun!

So wish me luck.  ^_^  I've already  started "training" -- went to the Waseda gym a couple of times before I left for Taiwan.  Since I have been in Taiwan, I have been doing squats and I've climbed from B1 to where we live on the 11th floor.  I think the 101 will be sooo much harder.. just because, average buildings have 10-16 steps per floor... but 101 should have an average of 20 steps.   (2046 steps/ 101 floor)   grrr...  gotta keep working on my legs.

Our team, and individual climbers are collecting donations for the charities. If you would like to show your support, you can give me the donations directly or donate online HERE .  On that page, choose Sponsor Registered Climber--- and you will find my team "Stair Masters", and me-- all the way at the bottom of the list.  Thanks!

    and now... back to squats.

I just saw this and it got me so upset! I used to take my car to the Canoga Park JiffyLube...

  • Sit-ups.

How many sit-ups can you do??

My friend sent this to me and I thought it was way too cute to keep to myself.

The chimp's name is "Pan"-- meaning bread in Japanese-- and his sit-ups partner is James.

I think James is super duper cute.

    Ganbatte James!

    About Relay For Life®

Relay For Life® is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. Relay gives you the power to help accelerate the Society's progress toward a future where cancer doesn't take the lives of our friends and family.
So what happens when you support the American Cancer Society through Relay For Life®? You help us save lives, you help those who have been touched by cancer, and you help empower individuals to fight back against this disease. Here's how:

    Saving Lives
Every dollar you raise makes a difference to people in your community whose lives are touched by cancer. The Society has contributed to almost every major discovery in cancer research. Millions of lives have been saved as a result, including people you may know. For those people and countless others, the research the Society has funded is resulting in better ways to prevent, detect, and treat cancer.
The American Cancer Society will also continue to exert influence on all levels of government, advocating for stronger policies and enacting legislation that will save lives and conquer cancer.

    Helping Those Touched by Cancer
When cancer affects you or someone you love, the American Cancer Society can lessen your fears and provide inspiration through our many programs and services - all free of charge and made possible through donations from local communities.
Your donations also give those touched by cancer answers to their questions and offer places to turn for help in their community through the Society's Web site,
    http://www.cancer.org and our 24-hour toll-free number, 1-800-ACS-2345.

Empowering People to Fight Back Against Cancer
A cancer survivor's recovery involves much more than medical treatments - it takes hope to heal. By participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®, those touched by cancer can feel empowered to fight back against this disease.
All of this is made possible because of activities like Relay For Life®. Are you ready to get involved? It's easy! You can put together a team or join an existing team. With our new Relay Online Web site, you can get involved right now by clicking on the "Sign Up Here" link on the left-hand side of the page or by clicking "Register Here" at the top of the home page. You can make a donation to a participant online as well. Just click on the "Donate Here" link on the left-hand side of the page or click on "Sponsor Participant" at the top of the home page. If you're a survivor, you can participate in the opening ceremony and walk alongside fellow survivors in a victory lap.
Relay For Life® is about being a community that takes up the fight!

  • my tarsals

It's been about five six days since I went to the doctor's to check out my toe.

Was there for around two hours, waiting for consultation, x-ray, and then another consultation after the x-rays were ready.

    check it out ^^

It's so neat .. hehhe   never seen my foot like this.   They must have been sooo laughing at me on the inside when I asked to take photos of the x-rays.  Laugh all you want.  I don't care

Front view--------------------- &  sorta side view.

So what's wrong with my toe?  I don't think they quite know either.  He said everything looked normal, no bone damage.  He said I may have squished my nerve, or injured it in some way.  But I was home all during that weekend-- Wasn't shoes for sure.. and I wasn't playing any sports...

Anyway-- so they put me on vitamin B12-- it is suppose to help with the maintenance of the nervous system.  So far, don't think there are noticeable changes.

grr... so here I am.  Day 8 of toe numbness. What to do? What to do?...

  • Krispy Kreme in Japan

I remember when Krispy Kreme first arrived in So. Cal...

It was probably over 5 years ago-- cause I was still in college then.  I remember jumping in the car and then maybe driving 10 minutes or so-- and enjoying my very first Krispy Kreme Doughnut.  Still, later, walking over to Ackerman during college years or pulling through the drive through on the way to work on Friday morning was quick and painless.  At most, I would have maybe--- maybe 5 other customers ahead of me in line.

    But check this out::

Did a quick estimation count-- probably no less than 70-80 in line OUTSIDE of the store.. and I would say another 30+ inside the store.  So ..together -- you have about 100 people ahead of you if you were to get in line.

Japanese people I tell you... love lines.

When Cold Stone Creamery first opened their store in Roppongi-- same thing--just like lining up at Disneyland.

I wonder if they have signs that says-- Current Wait Time: 200 minutes.  <-- I saw a sign like this @ DisneySea.  Did I wait in line? Heck no.  hahah... maybe I am too old for themeparks.

Anyhoo--I think I can wait-- till I get back in the States to get my sugar fixin'.

    =)

  • any doctors out there?

my right big toe has been numb for 'bout two days now.  dunno why-- can't seem to 'wake it up'.

doesn't hurt at rest~ doesn't hurt when i walk... don't remember kicking anything or hurting it...
only thing that i can think of that could have caused it is my sitting positions during the last couple of days during my hours of studying (yes i study ).

just numb at the tip of the toe and area from the nail surface and downwards...

i did a little bit of googling on  "toe numbness"... and this is what i got...
